The biggest land casino in the world opened for business (and, of course, pleasure) today in that gambling mecca just slightly off the Strip. That’s right, China. The Venetian Macao Casino is a 2.4 billion-dollar complex built by Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands Corporation. The mega development also now ranks as Asia’s largest mono-structure hotel. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not encouraging land-based casino gambling. After all, we’ve all heard those horror stories of underage kids sneaking their way into casinos because they couldn’t find a lottery or put a poker game together with a couple of mates; something we online proponents absolutely deplore. But as long as there are going to be more venues for free people to get their gamblin’ kicks, it might as well be with a good old American company. Too bad the tax revenues won’t be going to Vegas or anywhere in the States for that matter to help combat those problems associated with gambling, online and off. Congratulations Las Vegas Sands and best of luck! We’re betting you’ve got a winner.
